and its historical monuments

Monuments and places of interest

  • Main Church of San Giorgio Martire dating from the 18th century (it was built between 1790 and 1825). Stone bas-reliefs from the 14th century can be found inside.

  • Palazzo DeBernardis
  • Historic centre with typical 'cummerse' (typical sloping drystone roofs of the houses)
  • The trullo (typical rural dwelling of the Itrian Valley). The Trullo di Marziolla, the oldest trullo in Puglia (1509) is worth a visit.
  • Church of Madonna della Greca the first documented reference to which dates back to 1520 even if it would seem to have older origins.
  • 'Locororondo' DOC Winegrowers’ Cooperative
  • The town park and surrounding area
  • Via Nardelli (better known as 'Lungomare')
